Just like that, Jackson Holliday has shown the MLB world why he is one of the most highly-regarded young players in the league. The Baltimore Orioles' top prospect earned a promotion to the majors for his second stint in the MLB and wasted little time making an impact.
In his first game back with the Baltimore Orioles, Holliday crossed off a few milestones during the same at-bat. In the bottom of the 5th inning, Holliday launched the first home run of his career, which also happened to be the first grand slam of his MLB career.
Holliday's grand slam came off Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Yariel Rodriguez, giving his club a commanding 9-4 lead. It was not only Holliday and his teammates who were excited by his home run, Baltimore Orioles fans also took to social media and praised the young superstar.
"Can’t get much better than that" - One fan shared online.
"Good for the kid man" - Another fan posted.
"That's big time right there. He's probably relieved after that Grand Slam" - One more fan shared.
After a disappointing first stint in the MLB, which saw Holliday post a dismal 2-for-34 record at the plate, the young star has now crossed off a major milestone.
It remains to be seen if the home run is a sign of positive things to come for the first overall pick of the 2022 MLB Draft. However, with the pressure of his first home run gone, it could go a long way.
"HATERS ARE GONE LMAOOOOO" - One Orioles fan wrote.
"There it is! Settled down kid" - Another added.
"Credit where credit is due... That was incredible" - One more admitted.
It's likely that Holliday is not only excited about his first career home run but also relieved that he has finally sent one over the fence. With the departures of fellow young players Kyle Stowers and Connor Norby, Holliday could see more opportunities to become an everyday player for Baltimore.
Jackson Holliday could be the next Baltimore Orioles prospect to take a major step forward
If this is a sign of things to come for Jackson Holliday, the Baltimore Orioles will have yet another potential superstar on their hands.
The Orioles have become one of the top teams in the majors thanks to the development of former top prospects such as Gunnar Henderson and Adley Rutschman. There is a chance that Holliday can be the next one to follow in their footsteps.
While it may be unfair to expect him to jump into American League MVP talks such as Gunnar Henderson, Holliday has all of the tools to become a major contributor to the club.
