Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran was named the Ted Williams MLB All-Star Game MVP for his heroics at the 2024 All-Star Game. It was his first All-Star selection since beginning his major league journey in 2021.

Shohei Ohtani started the National League team's 3-0 lead by hitting a 400-foot homer in the third inning off Red Sox pitcher Tanner Houck. The American League team countered in the same inning with Juan Soto’s two-run double and David Fry’s RBI single.

Both teams remained level until the fifth inning when Jarren Duran hit a 413-foot homer, scoring two runs for the AL team. Duran’s shot led the AL team to a 5-3 victory over the NL team.

Several fans reacted and discussed Jarren Duran’s go-ahead homer that won him the Ted Williams MVP Award.

“He clutched up when it mattered,” a fan said.
“He deserves it,” another fan said.
“Well deserved!!! Congratulations to Jarren Duran!!!” another fan wrote.

Many other fans lauded Duran, although some were not happy with the award winner.

“Worst All-Star MVP of alltime and it’s not close,” a comment reads.
“The best, the legend. well deserved,” another comment reads.
“Jarren Duran is drizzling that All-Star Game ketchup let’s go!!” someone wrote.

Jarren Duran has become the fifth Red Sox player to win the MVP award at the Midsummer Classic. So far in the regular 2024 season, he is batting .284 with 10 home runs, 41 RBIs, 62 runs, and 22 stolen bases.

Jarren Duran remains humble after All-Star accolade

Jarren Duran leads the American League with 27 doubles and all of baseball with 10 triples. After the game, when Duran was asked if he felt like the best of the best, he said:

“I’m definitely not thinking I’m the best of the best. I’m just a guy that keeps my head down and just works hard. I don’t like to think of myself better than anybody else.”
"I'm just very thankful. It's hard to put into words. It won't hit me until I try to go to sleep tonight. Who knows if I'll be able to sleep tonight," he added when asked about his feelings on his achievements.

Jarren Duran and the Boston Red Sox have recovered well after a shaky start in the regular season with a record of 53 wins and 42 losses, ranking third in the AL East.
