"He don't know about it" - Reds All-Star Elly De La Cruz jokingly sends shots at Pedro Martinez for being short at MLB Red Carpet

Cincinnati Reds slugger Elly De La Cruz instantly became a fan favorite after making his debut last season. A true five-tool player, he can do it all out there on the field.

While he got his feet wet last year, he has improved throughout his second season. He already passed his home run total and has shattered his stolen base total from last season, to be selected to his first All-Star Game.

For his first All-Star Game, he had to come out with a heater of a fit to show off, and did just that, repping the cowboy hat with style. When going over his outfit on MLB's Red Carpet, he had to give Pedro Martinez a hard time about his height.

"Pedro, he don't know about it," said Cruz when asked if he liked being tall.

There is no denying that Pedro Martinez is short when it comes to the baseball world. There are not many pitchers who had the success that he did standing at just 5 feet 11 inches.

Compare that to somebody like Cruz, who stands at 6 feet 5 inches. Sometimes, it is tough being the short guy, but as much as he can get made fun of for his height, you cannot take away Martinez's three Cy Young Awards.

You cannot be this young and gifted without having a good head on your shoulders, and that is what Elly De La Cruz has. He truly loves the game that he plays and is always looking to get better every passing day.

"I just love to play the game. I just love to go out there every day and give them 100%, and I just want to be healthy [and] play every day," said Cruz.

That is exactly what you want to hear from your top youngster. Cincinnati has something special in the works and it could be a scary team very soon with the talent starting to sprout.

If you have not paid attention to Cruz yet during his journey to the big leagues, you may want to now. He has all the makings to become a centerpiece in this league for years to come.

Expect Cruz to make it his second home at the All-Star Game over the next few seasons as he continues to develop.
