While starting the season off so hot, New York Yankees slugger Juan Soto has hit a bit of a cold stretch. Over the last 10 games, he is hitting just .194, which has been a cause for concern.
For the Bronx Bombers, they have won just one game in July, going 1-for-7, and they desperately need a break. Their downfall allowed the Baltimore Orioles to overtake them in the division.
Something needs to change, and it needs to change quickly in the Bronx. New York radio host Chris McMonigle points the finger at Soto's recent struggles as a major cause for the team's recent skid.
"Now that the urgency is gone and they're struggling and he's not helping much during this struggle... it almost feels like when things were hot and the team was playing well, he was right there. He was the catalyst for the team," said McMonigle.
C-Mac wants to see Soto turn it around and do it quickly. He challenges the slugger to show everybody why he is worth the large contract he is ultimately searching for.
"Now is the time for Juan Soto to make the case to the Yankees why he''s worth $500 million... now is the time for him to sell us, because they need him desperately," said C-Mac.
With Soto being on a one-year deal, everything he does is under a microscope this season. Unless he turns it around, he is not doing himself any favors.
Is Juan Soto dealing with an injury or is he and the Yankees slumping?
Some have questioned whether Juan Soto's recent injuries have played a part in his struggles. In early June, he missed some time with forearm discomfort and recently suffered a bruised right hand against the Toronto Blue Jays.
While not much was found after imaging, it is clear that Soto is banged up. He looks to be in discomfort at times, especially with the bat in his hand.
Soto is likely holding on until the All-Star break when he can get a few days off to rest his body. While he is set to appear in the game itself, he will still be able to get some recovery.
Expect Soto to come out and look like a completely different player after the ASG. It is too important of a season for him to continue this downward spiral.
