"He's been a real energy source for us" - Scott Servais praises Victor Robles after being rewarded with a two-year extension

Victor Robles has been spectacular for the Seattle Mariners over the last few months. He was designated for assignment by the Washington Nationals on June 1 and signed with Seattle just days later.

Through 43 games, Robles is hitting .292/.360/.434 with three home runs and eight runs batted in. That type of production is something the front office does not want to let go.

The two sides agreed to a two-year, $9.75 million extension. Manager Scott Servais talked about the deal and how excited he is to have Robles locked up after he was set to become a free agent once this season ends.

"He's been a real energy source for us. When a couple of our key players went out with Julio [Rodriguez] and J.P. Crawford going out and creating oppurtunities for him at the top of the lineup and also in center field," said Servais.

Servais said Robles has really stepped up when the team needed it the most and that he has made the most out of his extended time in center field, with Julio Rodriguez recovering from a right ankle sprain.

"He's so young. You know, he's 27 years old and a lot of good ball ahead of him. So, it made sense as far as where our ball club is headed. He was excited about it [and] I'm excited to have him," said Servais.

If Robles can keep doing what he has been doing at the plate, this will be an absolute steal for Seattle. However, if he starts to get cold, the extension does not hurt the payroll too much.

Over a month ago, Victor Robles was unsure where he would end up after being released by the Washington Nationals. It can be scary getting released after the trade deadline and not knowing the future.

Now, he has found his place with the Mariners and could not be happier. He had a message for the fanbase after he signed his two-year extension on Tuesday.

"Hey Mariners fans, this is Victor Robles. I just wanted to share with you guys how happy I am to stay here in Seattle for the next couple of years. Thank you for all the love and support that you guys give me everyday. God bless you all and lets's put the trident up. Let's go!," said Robles.

There is no denying the slugger is content with his new club. He will be called upon to keep being a source of energy while Seattle fights the Houston Astros in the AL West.
