The Los Angeles Dodgers' starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow recently commented on teammate Clayton Kershaw's astonishing recovery from a capsule injury. Kershaw underwent surgery on his left shoulder after the end of the 2023 season, missing the first half of the current campaign as a result.
Kershaw made his 2024 season debut on July 25, as he struck out six against the San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium. This is now the 17th season that Clayton has played for the Los Angeles side, a franchise record.
Talking to Chris Rose on the JM Baseball YouTube channel, Glasnow talked about how his teammate's recovery surprised him (21:20).
"Clayton Kershaw is back from a capsule injury, that usually takes people way longer, and he's coming back looking this sharp already. Just watching that in itself is extremely impressive, just to see what he can do and how quickly he can move, it's unheard of. He's superhuman."
Talking about the work ethic that helped Kershaw make a relatively swift return to action, Tyler added:
"He works extremely hard. Just watching him do his routine in the weight room while he was in rehab and the work he does on the mound is really interesting. He looks really sharp, he's back to normal Clayton Kershaw form. He's fine tuned his craft more than anyone I've ever seen."
Glasnow has strong outing as Dodgers sweep the Pirates at home
The Los Angeles Dodgers recorded a series sweep on the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday, beating the visitors 6-5 in extra innings. Tyler Glasnow had a significant part to play in the victory, as the 30-year-old struck out four in seven innings of work.
Allowing 2 runs on Sunday, via an Andrew McCutchen home run, Glasnow put up his third quality start in a row. The right-handed starter has struck out 168 batters this season, the third-highest in the Major League. He also has a 3.49 ERA with a 0.95 whip for the current campaign.
Kershaw takes the mound again on Monday as the Dodgers head to Milwaukee to take on an inform Brewers side in Game 1 of a four-game series. Fans will be hoping the aces in their pitching staff can continue to show their quality as the playoffs loom on the horizon.
