Ron Washington shares positive update on Mike Trout's recovery

Los Angeles Angels manager Ron Washington has shared some positive updates on slugger Mike Trout, who has been out of action since the end of April when he suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee. He had to go for surgery on May 3 to repair it.

The injury didn't seem to be a season-ending one, and the 11-time All-Star was expected to return soon. However, following the procedure, all the reports about Trouts' recovery suggested that the player was recovering slower than expected.

Washington recently weighed in on the stars' current condition and a possible return to the field. He revealed that Trout is closer to resuming duties on the field.

"He was really excited when I walked in. He told me, ‘Skip, I’m about there.’ About there where he can get out and start doing things. So it’s going to be up to the medical staff when that happens, but he’s in a better mood than the last week or so when he said that he was having discomfort. I think he’s starting to get past that discomfort," Ron Washington said (via Los Angeles Daily News).
"And he’s starting to feel like he might be able to get out here and get started. And once we see him on the field doing some things, then we know it’s not too far.”

Mike Trout says rehab from knee injury has been 'slower than expected'

Following a knee injury at the end of April, Angels OF Mike Trout has undergone surgery and has missed action ever since. Last week, the three-time AL MVP shared his current condition after starting rehab.

"It's getting there, obviously slower than I thought, but it's my first time with a knee injury. Just gotta trust the process and take it day by day," Mike Trout said (via journalist Taylor Blake Ward's X handle).

The 32-year-old is considered one of the greatest players of his generation. However, injuries haven't been kind to him as this is the fourth consecutive season he has had a serious injury that has sidelined him for a hefty amount of time for recovery.
