After getting sidelined with a left-hand fracture, Mookie Betts found a new side job, joining the Dodgers’s broadcasting booth against the Arizona Diamondbacks’ second game on Wednesday.
Brianna Betts, Mookie Betts’ wife, gushed over her All-Star husband’s part-time work personality and picked Instagram to express that.
“Oh hey commentator!” she wrote in her story.
Betts is known for his versatility on the field, capable of playing almost any position assigned by the Dodgers. Despite being a Gold Glove-winning outfielder, Betts also excels in his infield ability; this season, he has been given the role of the team’s everyday shortstop. In his first extended stint at this position, he successfully addressed the Dodgers’ infield concerns.
Before injuring in the Dodgers-Royals finale game last month, Betts maintained a remarkable stat line: .304/.405/.488 and an OPS of .892 with 50 runs, 40 RBIs, and 10 home runs in 72 games. Had he not been injured, an All-Star nod was almost certain given his continued form.
Meanwhile, Shohei Ohtani confirmed his All-Star invitation for the fourth straight season, being the sole Dodger player in the All-Star regulars lineup.

Mookie Betts met his love, Brianna Hammonds, in middle school and started dating shortly thereafter. The couple exchanged vows in 2021, following Betts World Series Championship with the Dodgers in 2020.
“Brianna has been by my side since we were teenagers," Betts shared with People. "Together we've grown mentally, physically and spiritually. She is my best friend."
The couple welcomed their daughter, Kynlee Iory Betts, in 2018, and their son, Kaj Lynn Betts, in April last year. While daddy Betts was busy at Dodgers Stadium with his part-time commentator job, baby Kaj made reels with mommy Brianna.
“My Bubba,” she wrote in her story.
In Betts' absence, Enrique Hernandez and Miguel Rojas are stepping in for the Dodgers until his return.
