The New York Yankees made a major move ahead of the MLB Trade deadline, acquiring Jazz Chisholm Jr. from the Miami Marlins. New York had to send over three prospects: Agustin Ramirez, Jared Serna and Abrahan Ramirez in order to land the versatile slugger.

Chisholm Jr. should provide a major boost to the Bronx Bombers' lineup. Through 101 games this season in Miami, he hit .249/.323/.407 with 13 home runs and 50 runs batted in.

How the Yanks plan to use him is unclear, but being able to play both the outfield and the infield, he has plenty of options. His versatility is something that MLB insider Ken Rosenthal raved about:

"Jazz Chisholm can play the infield, he can play the outfield. His versatility surely is an asset. Right now, it looks like the Yankees are leaning more toward him in the infield, probably third base, a position he has never played professionally in nine seasons."

Rosenthal stated that the Yanks are interested in Chisholm Jr. as an infielder, preferably third base. It is a position the team has struggled with this year and a role that the slugger has never played professionally.

DJ LeMahieu has been a liability for the club at third base offensively. Chisholm Jr. would be a major upgrade at the position if he can handle all the work that comes with playing at the hot corner.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. could help the Yankees at multiple positions

Jazz Chisholm Jr. was a great acquisition for the Yankees. He is one of the few players who can fill multiple holes that have been hampering the Bronx Bombers. While he is expected to play third base, he could also help in the outfield. Slugger Alex Verdugo has struggled at the plate lately, and Chisholm Jr. can certainly hold his own in the outfield.

He could also help the club if Gleyber Torres starts to struggle again. The second baseman has had some troubles at the plate this year but has turned it around since getting benched in June. Acquiring Chisholm Jr. also gives the Yanks a bit more speed on the base paths. This is also an area of need, as the team ranks nearly last in stolen bases this season.

This is a great acquisition, but insiders do not believe they will stop there, as the New York Yankees might add another piece to their lineup soon.
