On Tuesday, Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers crushed his longest home run of the season against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. Up against Austin Gomber, the 10-year, $700 million contract holder sent the ball to center field for his 20th home run at a projected distance of 476 feet, barreling it with an 113 mph exit velocity.
The solo shot helped the Dodgers cut the deficit to 7-3 in the sixth inning. The home run toppled Aaron Judge's 473-foot bomb against the Houston Astros and Mike Trout's 473-foot dinger against the Miami Marlins early in the season.
Despite the Dodgers trailing in the game, Shohei Ohtani finding his form had fans ecstatic.
"Shohei's slump is officially over," one fan wrote.
"HE HIT A FRICKIN GOLF BALL," another added.
One fan compared him to star WNBA rookie Caitlin Clark.
"Shohei Ohtani is the Caitlin Clark of the MLB 🔥," one commented.
Others backed him for the MVP award despite just playing as a DH this season.
"MVP HIM," one wrote.
"He gotta go through Marcel Ozuna for that DH honor!" another commented.
"Man is going to win one without pitching he about to sweep that award the next 5 years," another posted.
At the moment, the Dodgers are trailing 9-4 entering the ninth innings.
