San Diego Padres star Jackson Merrill will be there in Petco Park to watch Post Malone and several other celebrities as the Wild Horses Festival returns to Petco Park. Paul Cauthen, Zach Top, Vincent Neil Emerson and Dan Spencer will also headline the event as per the release.
On Monday, the Padres released a video of Merrill talking about the upcoming New Year's Eve night. It seems Padres fans will get to see their year end on a high note, thanks to several events in line to make their New Year Special.
"Hope to see you December 30th at Petco Park for Post Malone. I'm gonna be there and it's gonna be a blast. See you there," Merrill said in the video.
All age groups are invited to the concert. The VIP Pit tickets (standing only) will include a dedicated entrance, bars and bathrooms. The Premier Field (standing only) includes access to the Premier Field and a dedicated entrance.
Jackson Merrill finishes higher than NL ROY Paul Skenes in MVP voting
Padres rookie Jackson Merrill despite a tremendous season finished runner up to Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes who also had a spectacular season in the NL Rookie of the Year voting. Skenes received 23 out of possible 30 first place votes while Merrill received the other seven.
However, when it came to voting for NL MVP, Merrill edged out Skenes. The Padres slugger received two fifth-place votes, three sixth-place votes, one seventh-place vote, four eighth-place votes, five ninth-place votes, and four 10th-place votes, to finish ninth in the voting with 57 points.
Meanwhile, Skenes only received one eighth-place vote and couldn't crack the top 16 NL MVP field. He also finished third in NL Cy Young voting which was won by Chris Sale of the Atlanta Braves.
Both rookies had a spectacular season. Merrill batted .292/.326/.500 with 162 hits, 77 runs, 24 home runs, and 90 RBIs. On the other hand, Skenes posted an 11-3 record, 1.96 ERA, and 170 strikeouts.
While many believe, especially Padres fans, that Jackson Merrill was robbed of a deserving award, what Paul Skenes did was also as good. It seems the voters found Skenes more befitting for the honor.
