Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Bobby Miller gets derailed by the Philadelphia Phillies hitters. Miller ended up giving the Phillies a 9-0 lead against his team in just four innings of the series.
Miller started with Rafael Marchán's RBI single in the second inning, where Brandon Marsh scored. In the same inning, he also gave Kyle Schwarber a two-run single. This propelled the Phillies to a 3-0 lead over the Dodgers.
In the 4th inning, Brandon Marsh scored again as Johan Rojas hit a single against Miller. After this, Miller got struck with a setback as Trea Turner hit the grand slam and added four runs to the scoreboard. The slump didn't just stop there, Miller again hit a solo homer in the 4th inning at the hands of Bryson Stott.
In the bottom 5th, Miller was replaced by Yohan Ramírez and the fans showcased their disappointment on X (formerly Twitter):
"Give him a few starts in AAA needs to throw strikes, he'll learn from this," one fan commented.
"HORRIBLE," another fan added.
Some other fans also shared similar sentiments about the performance of Bobby Miller against the Phillies.
"AAA. He needs a total reset. Mentally and physically," one fan said.
"Not a future ace. He will be a 3-4 starter his whole career at best. Maybe time to move on, he’s never been consistent," one fan opined.
"Time to trade him, need to get a pitcher that’s ready to win now and miller still has trade value," one fan added.
"Well he’ll probably end up on IL by the end of the week!!," one fan predicted.
Bobby Miller went through a rollercoaster season with the Dodgers
On March 29th, Bobby Miller dominated the St. Louis Cardinals, tossing six shutout innings. With 11 strikeouts and just one walk, it looked like a breakout season was in the cards.
His stat line was impressive: 6 IP, 0 ER, 11 K, 1 BB. Miller proved his mettle to the Dodgers with such a start. However, Miller's next two starts were a disaster.
In just 5.2 innings, he allowed seven earned runs, struggling to find the strike zone. Then, a two-month injury sidelined him completely. So, after Tyler Glasnow was added to the injured list, Miller was again given the opportunity to be a starting pitcher against the Phillies.
Things didn't go as planned because Miller ended up delivering the worst start of his career in today's match. Thus, adding more concerns to the prevalent hurdles of the Dodgers' starting pitchers.
