Manny Machado, a five-time All-Star and a third baseman and shortstop for the San Diego Padres in the MLB, has an eight-year-old son.
Yainee Alonso is the wife of Machado. The duo dated for a while and after their engagement in 2013, they married in November 2014. They welcomed their first child, a boy, in 2015.
Born on July 6, 1992 in Miami, Machado attended Brito High School before getting selected with the third overall selection in the 2010 MLB draft by the Baltimore Orioles.
He bats and throws with his right hand and has represented the Dominican Republic national baseball team as well.
Manny Machado's professional baseball career
Manny Machado made his MLB debut in August 2012. He had a breakout season in 2013, earning a seat on the American League roster.
He was also acknowledged as one of the game's top fielders, collecting a Gold Glove Award. Machado got his second Gold Glove in 2015 and was selected to the All-Star Game in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2022.
On February 21, 2019, Machado agreed terms with the San Diego Padres on a 10-year, $300 million contract, making it the richest free-agent deal in the history of American sports.
Machado signed a new 11-year contract deal with the Padres for $350 million on February 28, 2023; the new pact includes a complete no-trade provision and will keep Machado with the Padres until 2033.
Machado became the first MLB player to be ejected for appealing for a pitch clock violation on April 4, 2023. The San Diego Padres player now has two high-profile distinctions: he's the first MLB player to get a pitch-clock violation and the first to be ejected for appealing a pitch-clock violation.
In his first at-bat against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, he was called for a third-strike pitch-clock violation.
