New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge started off the season cold but quickly brushed that off and has been on fire since. The former AL MVP leads all MLB hitters with 32 home runs across 87 games.
The conversation around whether Judge can muscle out 60 home runs this season is starting to get louder and louder. FanDuel Sportsbook currently lists the odds at +220.
While looking back at his historic 2022 campaign, where he beat the AL single-season home run record, he is a bit ahead of schedule. He did not hit his 32nd home run that year until July 16.
If he continues his pace, there is a chance that Judge could beat the record that he previously set during the 2022 season. 65 home runs is certainly not out of the question here.
Aaron Judge is having a better season than he did in 2022
It is hard to imagine Yankees' slugger Aaron Judge is having a better season than he did in 2022. While some thought that was a fluke, it is hard to maintain that thought while watching him at the plate.
Looking back at Judge's stats through the first 81 games in 2022 and this year, there is almost no comparison. He holds 15 more RBIs, and 11 more doubles, while OBP, SLG, and OPS are significantly higher.
The acquisition of guys like Alex Verdugo and Juan Soto seemed to have helped the captain this year. He is not the sole focus of the team's offense, which was likely stressful over the last two seasons.
Judge can now focus on playing his game instead of worrying about needing to perform. Watch for him to maintain this insane pace and be the center of attention at the end of the regular season again.
