The New York Yankees filled some holes on Saturday by acquiring Jazz Chisholm Jr. from the Miami Marlins. The versatile slugger is expected to help his new club at third base, a position he has never played professionally.

The trade lit up the baseball world, as many wondered where Chisholm Jr. would end up. Many Bronx Bombers fans were overjoyed to hear the news, but it did not come without some hate.

Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Jonathan Papelbon took to social media to send some shots at his rival club, specifically Alex Verdugo. Verdugo has been struggling at the plate lately, and Papelbon let him have it.

"Yankees get Jazz Chisholm in a trade? .240 lifetime hitter with 30% K rate. I bet him and Verdugo will be best friends!" - said Papelbon.

This is not the first time that Papelbon has been critical of Verdugo. He sent a profanity-filled shot at the slugger when the Red Sox traded him to the Bronx Bombers.

Papelbon was not a fan of the way that Verdugo was critical of manager Alex Cora. There is no denying that there is some bad blood between these two.

If Alex Verdugo can get it going at the plate again, the Yankees are in a good spot following the acquisition of Jazz Chisholm Jr.

One reason the Yankees wanted to acquire Jazz Chisholm Jr. was to help boost the offense. Giancarlo Stanton and Anthony Rizzo are both on the IL and while Alex Verdugo started the year off hot, he had drastically cooled off.

However, against his old club, he has started to pick the pieces back up. Batting leadoff on Friday, he finished the day going two-for-four with an RBI, but it was not enough to give the Bronx Bombers the win. If he can continue to keep pressing, the Yanks should find success.

Stanton was spotted getting work in on the field this week and is expected to be back in the lineup on Monday. For Rizzo, he is not able to return until August after being put on the 60-day IL.

The Yanks have some core players returning soon, and now, Jazz Chisholm Jr., putting them in a great spot. They certainly have gotten better on Saturday, and the MLB Trade deadline is not over yet. Do not be surprised if they make another move or two.
