Pittsburgh Pirates veteran Andrew McCutchen made headlines in 2020 following his distaste for the New York Yankees' hair policy. Since 1976, the team has strictly prohibited players from having long hair or facial hair outside of a mustache.

He felt that those kinds of policies did not allow players to express themselves, and he was not alone in that thinking. Luckily for him, he only had to turn his swag down for part of the 2018 season.

McCutchen is somebody who loves to express himself on the field and takes great pride in his appearance. Looking his best is not always easy, and he discussed the process with Mookie Betts on Bleacher Report's On Base.

"Went to Altoona, found somebody who could twist me up. They twist me up, they didn't look that great. The offseason came, I went back home and then one of the ladies I went to church with got me right," - said McCutchen.

McCutchen stated that he started getting dreads in 2006, and it was over from there. He even has a name for them, referring to them as "Killmongers" from Marvel's "Black Panther."

"These are dreads, I call them the 'Killmongers' from 'Black Panther,' Michael B Jordan. So, [he] came out when 'Black Panther' came out and he had this but his was longer and I was like, 'That's kinda clean'" - said McCutchen.

McCutchen states he took inspiration from the villain of the movie, but he does not act like one. He more closely resembles the movie's hero, T'Challa.

Pittsburgh Pirates slugger Andrew McCutchen is one of the most well-respected players across the board. Nearly everybody has had great things to say about the veteran, from other players to managers. With how long he has played so far, he has crossed paths with plenty throughout the years.

He has done a lot of philanthropic work throughout his career and even held a charity week back in 2019. Not many can say they have worked nearly as hard on their image off the field as they have on it.

McCutchen is the perfect role model for the younger generation aspiring to be professional baseball players when they get older. We need more players like him teaching kids how to carry themselves.
