The Yankees are having a good season and they will continue to do so if they can avoid injuries, especially one to their captain, Aaron Judge. On Friday, during the fourth innings, Tampa Bay Rays' ace Zach Eflin's pitch was fouled off by Judge on his foot.
Soon after, the Yankees' medical trainer rushed in to check in on him but it seems the big man was fine, laughing himself out of the situation.
However, the situation was enough to keep Yankees fans on the edge, and they expressed their concern on social media.
"He is going to need armor all over his body," one fan commented.
"Holding your breath cause he fouled tip the ball on his foot is hysterical. What a puss," another added.
"There’s a great disturbance in the force as if there are millions of voices that were suddenly silenced, I feared that something terrible happened," one fan wrote.
While there were some fun jabs as well, the majority of them expressed concerns for the well-being of Aaron Judge.
"Hope Judge is ok. He can't do that to himself," one wrote.
"Right in the Judge’s Chambers," another quipped.
"Dude the hell with the tipp that looks like he hit his ankle hard," another added.
Aaron Judge's Yankees crush Tampa Bay Rays in first game after the All-Star break
Going into the All-Star break, the Yankees were facing a slump, having won four of their last 10 games, with major concerns elevating to the bullpen and hitters in the middle of the lineup. However, their first game after the All-Star break checked many boxes for them.
Gerrit Cole started the game for the Yankees, throwing six innings for only one run while striking out eight. Coming out of the bullpen, Tommy Kahnle, Jake Cousins and Caleb Ferguson pitched one inning each, with the first two not even giving up a single hit. This is the need of the hour for the Yankees, as they hope to continue the momentum.
On the offense, Austin Wells and Anthony Volpe found some form, with the former grinding out three walks while Volpe drove in three runs on his two hits. Although Trent Grisham, DJ LeMahieu and Gleyber Torres continued their struggle,.
Juan Soto was perfect on the night, going 4-for-4 and allowing one walk, scoring four of the Yankees' six runs. Aaron Judge went 2-4 with one walk, one RBI and one run scored.
The lone run scored by the Rays was a solo shot from Brandon Lowe in the sixth against Cole. The Yankees won the game 6-1.
The Yankees won the first of the four-game series at home. The two sides collided again on Saturday.
