Carlos Rodon's wife, Ashley, shed light on the difficult journey the couple went on to experience parenthood. On Mother's Day, she shared a post highlighting the difficulties she went through after miscarrying her first son and, from there, what a monumental task it was to comprehend and embrace motherhood. The duo considers their firstborn, Willow, a miracle child who was born in 2019.
The emotional pain and struggle that the couple had to go through while trying to become parents was a major ordeal, both mentally and physically. Relating to the same, Ashley spoke to a standout crowd at the Carlos Rodon Foundation event.
"I felt like a failure as a woman, as a wife," said Ashley while talking about the problems of conceiving a child.
She shared the highlights from the event in a post on Instagram with the caption:
"After numerous ultrasounds, over fifty vials of blood, an insane amount of tests, and more pills than I thought I could ever take, our miracle has been given to us! God said be patient. My heart is so full and God is so good. I will never be able to explain the moment we saw that heartbeat.
"I started sobbing, and I just felt Carlos put his hand on my chest. That feeling will be burned into my memory forever. Sometimes I find myself crying when I’m just sitting around because it feels like my heart’s going to burst with how much love I have for our new miracle."
Ashley and Carlos Rodon started a foundation to help females seeking childbirth alternatives like IVF
After the birth of their first child, Willow, Carlos and Ashley Rodon started the Willow Grant, a collaboration between the Nest Egg Foundation and the Carlos Rodon Foundation. It works towards giving infertile couples access to funding for IVF procedures and/or seeking other economical alternatives to normal childbirth.
In her Instagram post, Ashley shed light on Willow Grant through the caption, which reads:
"I wish everyone could experience this joy and blessing, and that’s how The Willow Grant was formed. The Willow Grant is a fund founded in honor of our miracle, Willow. Following recurrent pregnancy loss, we questioned if we would ever welcome a healthy child into the world.
"After a challenging journey, we’ve realized the prevalence of this often overshadowed issue. Leveraging our platform, we aim to raise awareness and funds for the foundation, offering hope to families seeking fertility treatments like IVF. We aspire to bring hope to numerous families who are praying for their miracle."
Carlos and Ashley Rodon are now parents to three beautiful kids. Their second child, Bo, was born in 2021, and their third child, Silo, was born in April 2023. The Rodons reside in Queens, New York, where Carlos currently plays ball with the Yankees.
