After signing a 15-year, $765 million contract with the New York Mets on Dec. 11, Juan Soto was spotted partying at a nightclub in the Dominican Republic on Friday. With his song "Soto Shuffle" playing in the background, the MLB star went silent during the Yankee part of the song and appeared to shout "Los Mets" instead.
While the video has gone viral on social media, it has produced some mixed reactions from baseball fans.
"I hope money doesn't make Juan Soto a worse player," one fan said.
"Coward," a fan said.
Baseball fans across the country took the chance to roast Yankees fans for their negative comments while others roasted Soto for his lack of loyalty toward them:
"Dude has zero loyalty to anything but the dollar," one fan said.
"Bet he’s gonna love finishing in third place lol," another fan said.
"I don’t think there’s ever been a more unlikeable 'superstar'," one fan said.
Juan Soto's move to the New York Mets after reaching the World Series with the New York Yankees has created a lot of hostility between the two fan bases over the last few weeks. This has led Yankees fans to claim that they are better off without him since he is only motivated by money.
However, Mets fans believe that he is a crucial part of their project towards winning the World Series. Overall, there is plenty of resentment from both sides which the neutral fans are enjoying as bystanders.
Juan Soto denies rumors that his family was disrespected by Yankees staff member
In the aftermath of Juan Soto's signing with the New York Mets over their cross-town rivals, a new rumor about his time with the New York Yankees made the rounds. A member of the Yankees security team had allegedly disallowed his family members from certain areas, which upset the outfielder and influenced his decision to join the Mets.
However, in a recent interview with “Grandes en los Deportes,” he denied such claims and said that the organization always treated him and his family very well.
After emphasizing that his relationship with the Yankees was great, Soto refused to talk about the rationale behind his decision. While he had a good time on the field with the Yankees, it remains to be seen if he can repeat the feat with the Mets.
