On Monday, Kansas City Royals slugger Bobby Witt Jr. turned some heads during the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby. He found himself advancing past the first round after slugging 20 home runs.

After making it to the second round, the competition would head to a head-to-head style bracket, and Witt took on the veteran Jose Ramirez. He took down Ramirez, putting up 17 home runs while J-Ram struggled.

Now, Witt would be facing Teoscar Hernandez in the finals after Hernandez and Alec Bohm had a thrilling matchup. However, Witt did not have the juice to stand with Hernandez, coming short in his last round.

"When it was up there, I thought it had a chance. I was like, 'Come on, go, go'... I need to do a couple extra push-ups today," - said Witt.

Hernandez would go on to win the Derby 14-11. The Los Angeles Dodgers finally have their first Home Run Derby winner, which is pretty crazy to think about, given all the sluggers that have come and gone.

"I think they started playing "Timmy Trumpets" on the speaker and everything, and the fans started going and my adrenaline strated pumping, and that was a blast. It was an honor to be a part of it. Teoscar put on a show, so it was a lot of fun" - said Witt.

This was Witt's first time participating in the Derby, and it was quite the performance from somebody with no experience. He will be back to try and claim that title over the years.

The Home Run Derby is something that many fans and players look forward to every year. There are no comparisons to it, and it makes adult fans feel like kids again by bringing their gloves to the ballpark.

Fans certainly needed to bring their gloves to the stadium given how sluggers like Bobby Witt Jr. are hitting balls 457 feet at 110 mph. There were not a lot of lightly hit balls making it to the grandstands.

While the sluggers are getting pitches in their wheelhouse. It is still impressive to see how hard and far they can get these baseballs off their barrels. Every year, it feels like they are increasing their distance and exit velocity.
