During the 2019 season, Aaron Boone's future with the New York Yankees was up in the air. The club was coming off an NLDS loss in 2018 to their rivals, the Boston Red Sox, which stung.
Things got especially hot for the manager when the Bronx Bombers struggled down the stretch in 2019. Boone could not find a consistent lineup throughout the year, posting 146 different combinations in 153 games.
Many fans were calling for his job. However, he was not stressing over potentially losing his managerial position, via The New York Post's Dan Martin.
"I'm not worried about it. I'll be fine no matter what happens," said Boone.
Boone did not want to worry about it, especially when the 2019 season was still underway. But he did let the public know that he does not take being the Bronx Bombers' manager lightly.
"I love doing it. But I'll be fine no matter what," said Boone.
Boone and the Yanks would then go on to capture the American League East title and make it to the postseason. They made quick work of the Minnesota Twins in the ALDS but struggled, losing the ALCS series to the Houston Astros.
The Yankees picked up Aaron Boone's option for the 2025 season
The Yankees are bringing back manager Aaron Boone for the 2025 season. While there were talks that he was on the hot seat during the season, a World Series appearance seems to have given him more life in the dugout.
There is no denying that Boone had the Yanks looking great in 2024, helping them reach their first World Series since 2009. However, they did not look too great during that World Series matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The team made untimely errors and could not get the ball rolling in the biggest series of the season. They only won one game, while the Dodgers went mainly untested.
Boone caught a ton of heat for some of his decisions during that series. One was having Nestor Cortes come into a game after not being on a mound for a month and giving up a walk-off grand slam to Freddie Freeman in Game 1.
This upcoming season will be a huge year for Boone. With his contract set to expire after the season, his new contract could be riding on the success or failures in 2025.
