Trevor Bauer might be one of the most consistent baseball personalities on social media. While the former Cy Young Award winner's MLB future remains uncertain, his new career as a social media influencer is starting to take off. Despite being a polarizing figure in the baseball community, the former superstar has seen his fans and followers continue to grow online.
The former LA Dodgers superstar has made a name for himself online by combining his baseball skills with a variety of humorous and unique challenges. Bauer has partnered up with several notable personalities, including Eric Sim, better known by his pseudonym, the "King of Juco."
They took part in a variety of challenges in recent weeks, including a "Deal or No Deal" type showdown. In Bauer's latest post, the former Cincinnati Reds ace wore a Pikachu helmet and took at-bats with Sim on the mound.
"That's a perfect sac bunt right there. I'm counting that as two points for me," Bauer said on Thursday.
Unfortunately for Bauer, Hitrax did not read the bunt as a successful hit and he fell behind the count 0-1. Bauer and Sim have continually battled one another, and this video was no different, with Sim calling the former All-Star "soft" for bunting.
"That's a foul ball. 0-1, like it should have been. Here comes 80 mph+. I was going to chill at 78 mph but I'm mad," Sim said.
Trevor Bauer made another bunt but Sim was quick to the ball, threw it wildly off-screen and declared it a double-play. It's unclear what the two were competing for; however, this will not be the last time they'll battle on social media.
Trevor Bauer proved that he has plenty of life left his arm this past season in Mexico
Even though Bauer has not pitched in the MLB since 2021, it has not stopped him from taking his talents across the globe. After being released by the LA Dodgers, Bauer made the jump to Japan, pitching for the Yokohama DeNA BayStars of the NPB.
While he was solid in Japan, he was even better this past season in the Mexican League. In his lone season with the Diablos Rojos del Mexico, Bauer was excellent as he posted a 10-0 record with a 2.48 ERA and 120 strikeouts over 83.1 innings of work.
Thanks to his incredible run, he not only helped his club win the Mexican League title but also earned an All-Star selection and was named the Mexican League Pitcher of the Year. His MLB career may be behind him but he proved that he can still pitch at an elite level.
