New York Yankees pitcher Carlos Rodon is a man of few words. He prefers to let his pitches do the talking on the mound. But in a post-game interview after facing the Chicago White Sox, Rodon opened up about his experience with the Yankees and also expressed his deep appreciation for being a part of such a dominant lineup.
Rodon’s comments come after a string of impressive wins for the Yankees where their incredible batting lineup has constantly scored big runs.
“It’s tough, I mean you have got Volpe’s who starting off. It seems like that every time he goes there, it’s a five six pitch at bat and as a starter that makes it harder to start the game. You know he’s got the power to the right side of the field, you know where he can take the ball up to the right. And then you are facing Juan Soto….”
“This Line-up is pretty good. Really good actually. So now that I think about it. I’m just glad I am on this team.” said Rodon in a post-game interview.
Carlos Rodon went out of his way to show his appreciation to the Yankees hitters, Anthony Volpe, Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, Alex Verdugo, Stanton, and Rizzo, for their constant support of their pitchers. The 31-year-old pitcher is not exaggerating about the Yankees' batting order. The lineup is stacked with skilled hitters who can change the game in one swing.
Anthony Volpe is carrying on from his promising rookie year as he is hitting .270 with six home runs and 23 RBIs in his sophomore season.
Superstar outfielder Juan Soto is showing why the Yankees swung the blockbuster trade last December to get his potent bat. He currently has a batting average of .311 and an RBI of 37. He has hit eleven home runs so far this season.
Former MVPs Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton are both healthy and productive this season, while Alex Verdugo and Anthony Rizzo have been consistent left-handed bats in the lineup.
Carlos Rodon looking comfortable with the Yankees
Carlos Rodon is enjoying his second year in pinstripes. The left-hander feels confident and comfortable on the mound and credits the friendly and supportive atmosphere in the Yankees club.
“I sit down in the dugout now and I look around, and I feel pretty comfortable sitting in this stadium,” said Rodon in a post-game interview on Sunday
The Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox 7-2 on Sunday. Rodon pitched six strong innings and allowed just two earned runs on four hits, with six strikeouts to get the win.
Carlos Rodon is now 5-2 on the season with an ERA of 3.27 and a WHIP of 1.20 with 55 strikeouts. And if he continues to pitch well amid strong run support, he could be in line for a strong season.
