Brandon Marsh has some of the most iconic hair (and that includes the combination with his beard) in MLB. It's one of the outfielder's most notable features, but it's not something that just happens naturally. It takes some work and the scissors of another MLB player's father.
On the Chris Rose Sports podcast, the host asked if his hair was wet or dry in the interview. The outfielder said it was wet and showed Rose before revealing that it had been cut recently by Matt Strahm's dad.
Rose was shocked and asked how that transpired.
"Well, I'm really, really picky with who touches my hair," Marsh said. "I've got my hair cut by one lady since I was 12 years old. Funny story, I really needed a cut last year in Chicago when we were here playing the Cubs. Matt, you know Strahm, he's got the locks, man. That dude's got them going, so I'm like, 'I can trust your dad with hair. If he cuts your hair, he can cut mine for sure.'"
The Philadelphia Phillies stars have the same barber now, and incredibly hit two home runs after receiving the haircut. He then decided that Strahm's father was his good luck charm after hitting another home run on Opening Day after a cut, and that was all he needed to make the change.
Brandon Marsh enjoying Phillies' success
In a somewhat surprising switch this season, the Philadelphia Phillies are off to an early and impressive lead in the NL East while their rival Atlanta Braves are locked into a Wild Card. The reverse is how the last few seasons have played out, though Philly got the better of them in the playoffs.
Whether it's due to good luck from a quality haircut, Brandon Marsh is having one of his best seasons as a professional. He's hitting .261 with a 114 wRC+, both marks that are solid and more than useful in the middle of the Phillies lineup.
That Phillies lineup has jumped out to a 58-32 record, one of the best in the majors this year. Despite injuries, consistency from players like Marsh has been key.
