Grady Sizemore joined the Chicago White Sox coaching staff ahead of the 2024 season. Alongside manager Pedro Grifol, he was tasked with helping the club be the best product it can be.

However, the Sox had a rough season, posting a 28-89 record by early August. This is when the front office decided to let go of Grifol and named Sizemore the club's interim manager.

Under his watch, they did not do much better, posting a 13-32 record. Despite this, Sizemore still had a great time, and he reflected on his experience on MLB Network Radio.

It was a fun experience. Like I said, it still kind of doesn't feel real. But for the first year, I feel it went as good as it could have gone, personally. But I think we would have liked to see more wins," said Sizemore.

For Sizemore, he views his first experience as a manager as a successful one. Although he would have liked to grab a few more wins than he did, he did not have a lot to work with.

"I think overall it was a fun experience and I think I learned that I like working with players, I like making an impact, and I'm just trying to continue down this path of trying to help guys and give back and be a difference maker any way I can" said Sizemore.

What is Grady Sizemore's future with the White Sox?

In late October, the Chicago White Sox named Will Venable as their new manager going forward. He most recently worked with the Texas Rangers alongside manager Bruce Bochy as the team's associate manager.

Venable will have his work cut out for him as he has to figure out how to make this team better. They finished the 2024 season with a 41-121, which is by far the worst record of all time.

With Venable, making this team better starts with the coaching staff. He will get to handpick the assistant coaches, and he wants Grady Sizemore back.

During his introduction press conference, he stated his desire to retain Sizemore. There is no telling what his new role could be as Venable wants to utilize him to his fullest.

It will be interesting to see how the White Sox look next season. With a new manager, can they put this disastrous 2024 season behind them?
