Back in 2019, Justin Verlander's supermodel wife, Kate Upton was featured on the cover of Health Magazine. Being on magazine covers was nothing new for Upton, but she was a bit nervous.

Upton was just six months from giving birth to her child, Genevieve. While she worked hard to get her body back in shape, she still had fears in the back of her mind.

Those fears were magnified as the cover would not be touched by editors. Everything would be out there for the world to see, and Upton talked about that experience on the Kelly Clarkson Show.

"Oh, it was so scary. Leading up, I was still breastfeeding when I did the shoot and I was just freaking out the whole time," said Upton.

Upton revealed that she was still breastfeeding leading up to the shoot. While she is on top of her fitness, it can cause weight gain and can cause women to lose confidence.

"Unretouched is actually really hard for everyone on set, I noticed. The makeup artist and the hair stylist, everyone's like, 'Oh my God! What are we going to do with her bruise on her knee? Who's going to cover it? The makeup's not covering it!' Everything is very stressful," said Upton.

Much of the images that people see are filtered and edited by a team of talented people. While the work ends up great, it distorts what people look like, even some of the most beautiful.

Justin Verlander's wife, Kate Upton, knew this untouched shoot would be important. While nervous, she wanted the world to know that true beauty shined.

"It was really important for me to do this because we're on Instagram all the time and we see people photoshopping everything. You're like, 'When does it end?' And when you're scrolling on Instagram, you constantly compare yourself to these other people and for me, I wanted to take a step back and show a real moment," said Upton.

The cover had great reviews, especially for being unedited. She also shared some extras from her shoot with her fans on social media.

Upton wants to put the focus on health rather than being skinny. She is constantly encouraging her followers to go out and get active and has started a 12-week-at-home fitness program alongside Ben Bruno.
