New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor has an affinity for wearing high-end watches and the only time fans see him not wearing one is when he's on the field. Lindor said he developed this hobby of wearing timepieces in childhood, but now that he can afford luxurious ones, his affinity has only grown.
During a conversation with MLB Network, Lindor shared that even while going to sleep, he always has a watch on his arm:
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. I love watches. They make me feel some type of way," Lindor said.
"As for my watches, I take them off to shower, then put on a different one and go to bed with it. When I wake up and shower in the morning, I take it off and keep on playing like that. But if someone asks me for the time, I'll take out my phone and tell them," the shortstop added.
He continued about his affinity for watches, tracing its origins:
"Ever since I was a little kid, my mom worked in Old San Juan, where there are a lot of jewelry stores," Lindor said. "During the summers, I had to go to work with her, and it was extremely boring.
"So, I would just leave and walk around the entire city, stopping at every watch store, dreaming through the window, just looking at things and saying, 'Wow, that watch is pretty cool.' Until one person took me inside and showed me, and ever since then, my love for watches grew," he added.
Francisco Lindor sets himself apart from all shortstops in MLB history
On the field, Francisco Lindor is having an exceptional year and is fresh off hitting his 25th homer against the Baltimore Orioles' Cole Irvin on Wednesday. The home run put him in a different league of shortstops, becoming the only player to have recorded 25+ homers and 25+ steals in three seasons.
Moreover, Lindor helped his team clinch an all-important 4-3 win, as the Mets (66-61) now find themselves within 1.5 games of a Wild Card spot in the NL East standings.
