Coming up as youngsters in the league, Bryce Harper and Mike Trout quickly turned heads. During their rookie years in 2012, both sluggers were able to capture the Rookie of the Year Award for their respective leagues.
As both players won the Rookie of the Year Award during the same year, people could not help but compare them. They were close in age, came up at the same time, were both outfielders and had great success at the plate.
Former Washington Nationals manager Matt Williams was not a fan of the comparisons. He did not think comparing the two was all that appropriate or fair, via SB Nations' Patrick Reddington.
"I don't think its fair. Everybody brings a different set of tools to the table. And Bryce is one of our main guys and we rely on him. And the Angels rely on Mike," said Williams.
While the two share similarities, Williams believes both players have unique values that make them special. However, he understands why the comparisons have been made.
"So, the comparison is natural I think because of all that's been written and all that's been documented and their timeline and all that, but it's probably a little unfair to compare them because they're two very different players," said Williams.
All eyes will be on Bryce Harper and Mike Trout in 2025
The 2025 season will be an important one for Mike Trout. He is coming off a year where he played in just 29 games after tearing his meniscus twice and having to have season-ending surgery.
For Los Angeles Angels fans, it was a bummer of a season. Not only did they lose Trout for much of the year, but 2024 was the first season the Halos did not have Shohei Ohtani on their roster since 2017.
Trout must stay healthy in 2025 if the Halos want to even have a shot in the division. If he has another injury-riddled season, the fanbase would implode.
Bryce Harper fans have become concerned with his appearance lately. The slugger has posted videos on TikTok and he has looked awfully tired in those videos.
With the offseason in full swing, fans are questioning why he looks so tired and not using the time for rest and relaxation. However, it would take more than just a lack of sleep to keep this slugger at bay.
