Tyler Glasnow is coming off a phenomenal performance as the Dodgers cruise past the Mets to record an easy win. Shohei Ohtani went deep with his record-breaking 176th milestone homerun, but it was Glasnow who dominated on the pitching end, restricting the Mets from scoring.
Glasnow rebounded well from his recent struggles, pitching eight scoreless innings. Dodgers fans are hyped about his performance as the team avoided a sweep against the Mets.
In a postgame interview, Glasnow said he tries to keep his focus and performance consistent throughout the game.
"Honestly, for the most part, I just try to keep it as consistent as possible, I just try not to add too much external stuff."
Glasnow stated that he worked on his pitching since his last start. His dedication could be why the 30-year-old pitcher had been a bright spot for the Dodgers this game.
"We were working throughout the week since the last start," Glasnow said (at 0:44). "Just being more relaxed and rhythmic always usually helps me be in the zone a bit longer."
Tyler Glasnow becomes the first Dodger to pitch into the eighth inning since Clayton Kershaw
After the successful game, Tyler Glasnow joined Ohtani, in achieving a personal milestone as well. He became the first Dodger to pitch into the eighth inning since Clayton Kershaw accomplished the feat back in July 2022.
When asked about his recent achievement, the right-hander said it was a great feeling.
"It was a long one, it was awesome," Glasnow said (at 3:10 in the X video above). "Each time your scoring runs it's a nice little cushion for you and it's been great."
It's not often that pitchers move onto the eighth inning. It takes a long time for some pitchers to reach that milestone, however, Tyler Glasnow made it with the boys in blue.
Glasnow surrendered seven hits, zero runs, and no walks against the Mets. The talented pitcher recorded 10 strikeouts and secured the win. He holds a 4-1 record this season with a 2.92 ERA and in his 37 innings pitched, he maintains a spectacular WHIP of 0.95.
