Triston Casas is the starting first baseman for the Boston Red Sox and was a major part of their team in 2024. Casas was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft and debuted during the 2022 season. The Boston Red Sox did not qualify for the postseason in 2024, but Casas hit 13 home runs for the team.
Every MLB offseason is filled with rumors and Triston Casas has been involved in a few lately. The Boston Red Sox are looking to improve their roster ahead of the 2025 season, and Casas was recently asked about his future with the team that drafted him.
On Saturday, NESN posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) showing Triston Casas discussing his future with host Tom Caron. Caron mentioned that the Boston Red Sox are looking to add new talent and that moving Triston Casas might be necessary. The star first baseman responded that he wasn't bothered by the rumors.
"I try not to pay attention to it, of course... there's a lot of great organizations out there, but none like this one in Boston, so, would I like to stay here? Yes." - Triston Casas on his future with the Red Sox
Even if Triston Casas admits he would like to stay with the Boston Red Sox moving forward, the decision will be entirely out of his hands.
MLB Insider Encourages Red Sox to Keep Triston Casas
Rumors continue to circulate that the Boston Red Sox want to add Nolan Arenado from the St. Louis Cardinals, but Triston Casas would likely be the player on the move. This rumor has gained plenty of traction over the last few weeks, but one MLB insider warns the Red Sox against making this deal.
Robert Murray was particular when discussing this potential deal on the MLB Insiders podcast.
"If I were the Red Sox, I would not trade Casas for Arenado," Murray added. "I would not trade Casas for Arenado and Ivan Herrera. I wouldn’t move Casas in any Arenado deal whatsoever if I were the Red Sox."- Robert Murray
Triston Casas will continue to prepare to play for the Boston Red Sox in 2025, but he could ultimately end up on a different team.
