"I've never felt anything like this before" - Bryce Harper opens up about left hamstring injury he sustained during loss vs. Marlins 

Bryce Harper and the Philadelphia Phillies lost 7-4 against the Miami Marlins at Citizens Bank Park on Thursday. However, the Phillies suffered more than just defeat during the game.

First baseman Bryce Harper seemed to hurt his left hamstring after he grounded out to end the game. In the ninth inning, as he ran to first base, he started limping and holding his left hamstring. He then went off the field with trainers.

Discussing the injury, Harper said:

"I felt my lower hammy, just a little bit. We're going to get an image tomorrow and see what that looks like. See how I feel tomorrow and go from there."

“I have never really had any soft tissue injury besides my elbow so kind of see like I said what imaging looks like tomorrow," he added.

The eight-time All-Star is set to undergo imaging on Friday. During the game, he recorded one hit in five at-bats with one RBI and one strikeout. The two-time NL MVP has hit 20 homers and driven in 58 RBIs while slashing .303/.399/.582 in 76 games this season.

“I haven’t really felt anything like this before. So if I had something to go back on. I would let you know, but I have never felt anything like this before,” Harper said when asked about his concern over the injury.

Phillies outfielder Kyle Schwarber also exited the game with an injury. Schwarber was also removed in the ninth inning due to left groin tightness and was subsequently replaced by Brandon Marsh.

Phillies manager Rob Thomson discusses Bryce Harper's injuries

The last time Bryce Harper suffered an injury was back in 2022. He fractured his left thumb and tore the UCL in his right elbow, which required Tommy John surgery after the Philadelphia Phillies made it to the World Series Finals.

While talking about Harper’s latest injury, manager Rob Thomson said:

“I just felt a hamstring grab going on the line, don’t know anything more than that. We’ll just have to wait till tomorrow and check him out.”

The Philadelphia Phillies (53-28) lead the NL East and will face the Marlins on Friday in the second game of their four-game series.
