Dylan Cease delivered a stellar performance as he led the San Diego Padres to a 4-0 victory against the Atlanta Braves. He managed to strike out 11 hitters while giving off just 1 hit in the six innings.

Cease pitched a 99 mph fastball that flew off Marcell Ozuna’s bat to be a dribbled grounder, and the only hit against Cease in the game. Speaking with Ken Rosenthal, Cease talked about how he'd always looked up to such a moment, and he's finally living it.

"Last two months it feels like I've been trying everything to kind of get to where I was today, so... yeah, that was definitely more in the... more what I want it to look like, for sure," Cease said.
"It was just a big inning. I struck out the side and there's just a lot of energy, so I just wanted to kind of feed on it a little bit. Keep it going," Cease added.

This victory was successful in putting a halt to Padres' five-game losing streak, which was also tied for their longest skid of the season.

Dylan Cease received words of praise from the Padres manager

Following an offensive stretch where they managed only five runs in four contests, the Padres hitters presented a different story on Saturday.

Dylan Cease pushed his team to victory, delivering a masterful outing from the mound. He commanded a high percentage of his 106 pitches and kept the Braves hitters on their toes. Padres manager Mike Shildt praised the star pitcher for his great feat.

"He was electric. Talk about coming out hot, whew. He always has life on his ball but today he was really crisp,” Shildt said. “He was dynamic, as good as you are going to see. I just love the way he carried himself, too. He asserted his will."

Dylan Cease has also broken the franchise record for the most strikeouts in the first half of the season. He has managed 149 strikeouts which is more than Andy Benes' 138 strikeouts in 1994.
