Pete Alonso blasted his 24th and 25th home runs of the season in a 9-1 blowout victory over the Colorado Rockies on Thursday. The Mets first baseman, who was hitting at the cleanup spot again after being dropped to fifth the other day, responded with a two-run shot that sailed 471 foot.

In the third inning again, the MLB home run leader since 2019 launched another moonshot for 454 feet. Alonso is on pace to reach 40 home runs this season, but the first baseman isn't much concerned with his individual stats as long as his team wins.

"I mean, it's a great milestone, but ultimately, I want to help the team win. And ultimately, my performance, I want to positively impact each day.
"And I guess just regular season stats, I mean, obviously, it's tied to individual effort, but I want that effort to go towards team wins," Alonso said in the post-game press conference.

For Alonso, the season didn't start off on a good note, but despite all the criticism in the lead-up to the trade deadline and after, he has continued to believe in his abilities and helped the Mets get on a run. He will be key if the Mets want to do well this season.

Pete Alonso's two homers vs. Rockies put him in record books

Thursday's game saw the Mets get on top of the Rockies right from the start at Coors Field. Austin Gomber allowed three straight doubles to Francisco Lindor, Jose Iglesias and JD Martinez, which saw the Mets take an early 2-0 lead in the game.

Then walked in Pete Alonso, who absolutely crushed the ball to the stands for 471 feet, which had an exit velocity of 111.6 miles per hour and a launch angle of 29 degrees. Not stopping there, he again came to the plate in the third inning and scored another solo shot, this time for 454-foot on an exit velocity of 110.6 mile-per-hour.

According to MLB.com's Sarah Langs, the Mets had never began a game with four consecutive extra-base hits before. With Jeff McNeil's double later in the inning, New York tied its franchise record of five extra-base hits in a first inning.

Alonso's two 450 ft.+ home runs make him only the eighth player since the Statcast era (2015) to have two such big dingers in a single game.

Pete Alonso is hitting .246 with 25 home runs, 63 RBI and an .807 OPS this season.
