Trading for and extending Tyler Glasnow has looked to be a fantastic piece of business for the Los Angeles Dodgers, with the pitcher looking incredible in the 2024 MLB season. With a 3.09 ERA and 87 strikeouts across 67 innings pitched, Glasnow has settled in very well with his new team.
While on "On Base with Mookie Betts," Glasnow discussed how he met Meghan Murphy and the viral story of how he started dating her:
"So I was rehabbing in Tampa, clearly kinda watching the game but kinda looking in the stands," Glasnow said. "Like a normal rehab routine. I was sitting next to Brett Phillips and our camera guy was next to us, she was sitting like, close, front few rows, she kinda looks cute.
"And I asked Will - this is really creepy - 'Will, take your crazy camera and zoom in on her, I just wanna see if she's cute or not.' And he zoomed in and I thought that she was cute so I wrote my number on a ball and I gave it to a bat boy, the bat boy ran it over to her, gave it to her. "
Glasnow continued, explaining how she didn't text or call him:
"And apparently, she had a family friend who had two tickets, that couldn't go to the game, so she was going to both games, the next day as well.
"So she didn't text me or anything and came back the next day, wrote her number on a ball and came up behind the dugout and threw it at me. It was like, 'You text me, I'm not gonna text you.'" (Timestamp 6:05)
Flash forward to now, and Tyler Glasnow and Meghan Murphy have been dating for over two years.
Meghan Murphy's 'genuineness' was attractive to Tyler Glasnow
Tyler Glasnow explained how while he at first didn't expect anything to come of it, Meghan Murphy won him over with her genuineness on their first date:
"First time we went to dinner, I was like, sold. The first time I met her, she's like, the coolest, most normal, we ordered appetizers and she just like, went in there.
"She didn't care at all. She's very genuine, wasn't nervous or weird or anything, she didn't care at all."
With the Dodgers pitcher 6-3 on the season, the franchise is delighted with the way he has slotted into their rotation. The franchise is first in the NL West with a 33-21 record and looks very much like being a force in the postseason.
Tyler Glasnow's next start is set for Wednesday versus the New York Mets, and he will likely be favored to pick up another win.
