New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge helped his team clinch the series against the Texas Rangers on Sunday with his MLB-leading 42nd home run of the 2024 season. Judge hit a solo home run off veteran Rangers pitcher Andrew Chafin in the seventh inning to extend the Yankees lead to 8-3.

The Yankees fans were glad he did just that as the Rangers gave the hosts a big scare after a late rally in the eighth and ninth saw the game finish 8-7.

Judge's solo shot was his 299 career home run. However, the Yankees captain isn't too bothered about milestones and wants to help his team get over the line.

“If it comes with a win, it’ll mean something,’’ Judge said on looking forward to his 300th home run after Sunday's win per the New York Post. “It’s not what we play for. I just want to put us in a good position.”

Aaron Judge has 299 home runs in 952 games and is more than likely to become the quickest to the 300th mark on current form. Hall of Famer Ralph Kiner holds the record for reaching 300 home runs in 1,087 games.

Giancarlo Stanton lauds Aaron Judge ahead of his remarkable milestone

One Yankees star who knows all about the race to the 300-home run mark is All-Star slugger Giancarlo Stanton. The former NL MVP is the fifth fastest to the milestone in MLB history and reflected on his teammate, Aaron Judge's hitting ability.

“It’s incredible,’’ Giancarlo Stanton said. “He does something special every day. Being able to see most of his career, it’s been fun to watch his evolution. He’s got more in store.”

Stanton, who breached the 300-home run mark in 1,119 games, added a 422nd to his home run tally with a three-run piledriver against the Rangers on Sunday. His four-RBI night was crucial in the Yankees overcoming their rivals in a nervy clash.

The Yankees will travel to Chicago to take on the worst MLB team this season, the White Sox, for a three-game series starting on Monday.
