Sportscaster Dan Dakich and MLB Hall of Famer Tom Glavine discussed Paul Skenes' exceptional displays this season. The Pittsburgh Pirates phenom has a 10-2 win/loss record, with a 2.10 ERA and 151 strikeouts in his rookie season in the big leagues.
On Wednesday's episode of "Don't @ me with Dan Dakich," Glavine talked about Paul Skenes' stuff this season.
"(Paul Skenes) obviously burst onto the scene, Glavine said (per FOX News). "Had a ton of success, and for obvious reasons. The stuff is there. There is not much to not like about him, if anything."
"He is one of those guys that, you turn on the TV, and if he’s pitching you sit down and watch because it’s usually pretty good."
Tom Glavine represented the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets in his 22 years in the major leagues. In a highly decorated career, he was a ten-time All-Star, a two-time NL Cy Young award winner, a four-time Silver Slugger award winner, and won the World Series in 1995, where he was also the MVP. He is a Braves Hall of Famer, and his number 47 jersey has been retired by the organization.
Paul Skenes strikes out nine as Pirates win at home
The Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Miami Marlins 3-2 at PNC Park on Monday, as the Pirates opened up the three-game series with a win. The hosts took control of the game early, taking the lead with Oneil Cruz's home run in the bottom of the first.
Paul Skenes added to his exceptional rookie season with another dominant performance on the mound. He registered his latest quality start, pitching six innings, giving up only one earned run and striking out 9 Marlins batters.
The Pirates eventually swept the Marlins, winning in Tuesday and Wednesday's games as well. After a day off on Thursday, the Pirates continue their homestand as they invite the Kansas City Royals to PNC Park on Friday, with Luis Ortiz taking to the mound for the hosts in the series opener.
