San Francisco Giants ace Blake Snell had a stellar outing against the Colorado Rockies in the first game of the doubleheader on Saturday. The reigning NL Cy Young winner registered a career-best performance and addressed the trade rumors following his team's 4-1 win.

Blake Snell registered 15 strikeouts, the most in his career, after going six innings without allowing a run and conceding just two hits. He also became the first pitcher to register 15 strikeouts this season while missing out on the franchise record of 16 strikeouts by a whisker.

Following the team's win, the two-time Cy Young winner dismissed the rumors surrounding his exit from the Giants, saying that he doesn't want to switch teams as long as the team is intent on winning games.

“We just got to win,” Snell said. “If we win, I ain’t going nowhere. At least I believe that.”

Snell's name has been attracting a lot of interest after it was reported earlier this week that the Giants might be considering trading the veteran starter. He arrived in San Francisco on a two-year, $62 million deal earlier this year after turning down the San Diego Padres' qualifying offer and opting for free agency.

Giants manager expecting Blake Snell to continue stellar run

Blake Snell endured a tough start to life in San Francisco after a couple of injury blows earlier in the season. His acquisition deep into spring training raised question marks on his preparedness for the 2024 season.

However, Snell has proved his doubters wrong, allowing just two runs in his last four outings in July. Giants manager Bob Melvin, who managed Snell's Cy Young winning campaign with the Padres last season, feels the veteran starter will come into his own in the second half of the season.

“He’s always been kind of a second-half guy,” Melvin said. “Last year, when he went on a run like this, not only was it similar to this type of stuff every night that he was either giving up no runs or one run, he was able to pitch out of jams. He was able to get a strikeout with a man on third. It’s kind of his forte.”

With several big market teams looking to add a reliable arm to their starting rotation, Snell's recent form could see a dramatic move ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline.
