Blake Snell has not done much for the San Francisco Giants after signing his two-year, $62 million contract with the club. He has already been on the injured list twice this season, and the paternity list once.
He has also been dealing with a left groin strain that he suffered on June 2 in a start against the New York Yankees. However, the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner is inching closer to his return as he just completed his third minor-league appearance.
Snell was not just good, he was absolutely dominant. The lefty went five scoreless innings, not allowing a single hit, but he did walk a batter. The Reno lineup stood no chance.
However, some fans are not impressed with Snell's outing. They expect him to dominate at this level, they want to see the ace do it where it counts:
"Imagine getting paid that much money to terrorize AAA kids," one fan said.
"He's a great minor league pitcher these days," said another.
"They lost 7-1," another fan said.
While Sacramento is happy to have him, fans want to see him on an MLB mound. He is making too much money this season to only have six starts under his belt so far:
"Snell has a promising career is AAA!" said another fan.
"He's not ready tho," one fan added.
"This dude is the weirdest pitcher I've ever seen," said another.
With his dominant outing, Snell looks ready to rejoin the rotation. He could do so as early as Tuesday's series against the Toronto Blue Jays, per San Francisco Chronicle's Shayna Rubin.
Blake Snell needs to come out and be a force when he rejoins Giants' rotation
Blake Snell did not show much after his six starts with the Giants this year. He currently holds a 0-3 record with a 9.51 ERA across 23.2 innings of work, which is far from his typical form.
However, San Francisco has still been able to keep itself floating around .500, keeping themselves in the mix in the NL West. A couple of good series could see them inching closer to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
All eyes will be on Snell when he rejoins the group. If he can turn it around for himself, the Giants could look like a much scarier team.
