Legendary Yankees infielder and now a full-fledged businessman, Alex Rodriguez has come a long way in America as a child to parents of Dominican Republican origin. He was born in 1975 in Manhattan, New York, to Dominican immigrants Victor Manuel Rodriguez and Lourdes Nelly Navarro.
Going back to his heritage roots, Rodriguez met Dominican Republic president Luis Abinader and praised him for the developments made in the North American Caribbean Island nation over the years.
A-Rod took to Instagram to share a post from his meeting with President Luis Abinader, captioning:
"I am very happy to visit, congratulate and thank President Luis Abinader for all the transformations he is making in favor of my beloved Dominican Republic 🇩🇴"
As a kid, Alex Rodriguez loved the NY Mets and even idolized some of the players on that roster. A-Rod flourished during his freshman year at Christopher Columbus High School in Miami.
After his searing performances over the season, he was called up to try for Team USA, becoming the first player to achieve that feat.
The Seattle Mariners selected Rodriguez as the first overall pick in the 1993 MLB draft. He was just 17 when he got drafted to the big leagues, which meant that he never played college baseball.
With just one year in the minor leagues, Rodriguez made his MLB debut in 1994 with the Mariners. He spent seven seasons with the ballclub before making a high-profile switch to the Texas Rangers before the 2001 season and signed a massive 10-year $252 million contract.
Alex Rodriguez never stayed in Texas for the entirety of the contract, as the Rangers traded him to the New York Yankees before the commencement of the 2004 MLB season.
It saw him play with some of the most virtuous ballplayers in the league (like Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Robinson Cano and more). Rodriguez became a Yankee legend after spending 12 years with the ballclub until he hung up his cleats in 2016.
Alex Rodriguez shared core memories from his last game with the Yankees
NY Yankees history and Alex Rodriguez shared an Instagram post reliving the final moments from A-Rod's final game in the Bronx before he retired from baseball. The caption of the post read:
"8 years ago today, Alex Rodriguez doubles in a run, plays third base, and is showered with applause from the fans, in his final game of his career."
In the video reel, Rodriguez can be seen embracing his daughters, Natasha and Ella Alexander. The crowd applauded as A-Rod shared high-fives with his teammates and support staff one last time in the home dugout.
