Kansas City Royals upstart Bobby Witt Jr. tore up the majors in 2024. The 24-year-old was named the Gold Glove Awardee at shortstop for the American League. It was Witt's first individual trophy in MLB.

Witt Jr. along with his fiancee, Maggie Black, were present at the Plaza Hotel in New York City to receive the award. The Royals star was sporting a chequered-navy outfit while his fiancee was clad in a golden dress. Witt posted the photos of the Gold Glove Award ceremonies on his Instagram on Sunday.

Also present at the event were Bobby Jr.'s parents, Bobby Witt Sr. and Lauren. Bobby Sr. played in the majors from 1986 until 2001 as a pitcher and won his sole World Series as part of the underdog Arizona Diamondbacks during his last season in MLB.

Bobby Witt Jr. attended the awards ceremony with teammate Seth Lugo, who won the AL Gold Glove as a pitcher. After bagging the Gold Glove, Witt became the first Kansas City shortstop since Alcides Escober in 2015 to win the award.

Bobby Witt Jr. caps off MVP-worthy season with Gold Glove

In just his third season, Bobby Witt Jr. has been in the MVP conversation for the past two campaigns. Last year, the young shortstop finished seventh in AL MVP voting. This year, he has won the Gold Glove Award.

In addition to the trophy in his cabinet, Witt also led all the majors in two vital statistics. The shortstop finished with 211 hits and a .332 batting average, both of which led all of Major League Baseball. This, in turn, gave Witt the honor of being the 2024 AL batting champion.

Witt was also selected to his first All-Star team due to his stellar performance and for the second-straight year, he finished the season with at least 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases.

If not for another history-making campaign from New York Yankee captain Aaron Judge, Witt would have arguably been within touching distance of the 2024 AL MVP Award.
