Bryce Harper is known to use custom gear that closely resembles fans. He previously used custom gear, especially to honor Phillies mascot Phanatic at major events. On Saturday, the Philadelphia Phillies first baseman used custom gear to honor fan-favorite convenience store WaWa.
In the game against the Cleveland Guardians at Citizens Bank Park, Harper wore a custom WaWa-inscribed headband and even flaunted it on the heels of his cleats.
In the game, Harper went 1-4, homering once and contributing two RBIs in the Phillies 8-0 shutout win against the Guardians. With the win, the Phillies improved to 65-39 while the Guardians dropped to 62-42.
Bryce Harper launches WaWa cleats for Hoagiefest
Saturday wasn't the only time this year Bryce Harper and WaWa came together. Harper, who heads to Wawa for a hoagie before taking to the field, collaborated with Under Armour to launch clothing and custom cleats during Wawa's annual "Hoagiefest."
The new line, known as "Gottahava Harper" PE, features customized Wawa-themed sneakers that have Wawa's branding and their barcode logo on the heel.
Moreover, Under Armour also launched "Gottahava Harper" t-shirts at UA.com and Harper 9 turf shoes.
According to Under Armour reps, these shoes are designed to give "enhanced support for baseball players' movements" and have Under Armour's HOVR technology, which provides cushioning to provide players with power, stability, and comfort.
Moreover, Harper is not the only athlete to have love for Wawa's hoagie. They also collaborated with Phillies leadoff hitter Kyle Schwarber for "Schwarbomb" last year.
As per NBC Philadelphia, Wawa collaborated with former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce and his wife Kelly to present signature hoagies under their names.
Jason Kelce's signature hoagies are "an Italian hoagie with mayo, provolone, tomato and banana peppers on a white roll," Wawa said. Kelly's signature hoagies "feature honey turkey with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles and banana peppers on a wheat roll."
On the baseball front, Bryce Harper is hitting at MVP levels and is one of the contenders to claim the honors at the end of the year. He is hitting .288, including 24 home runs, five stolen bases and 67 RBIs. However, he'll have a tough fight for the honor, with Shohei Ohtani and Francisco Lindor also doing well consistently for their teams.
