Dansby Swanson's wife, Mallory Pugh, and the United States women's national soccer team played a scoreless draw against Costa Rica on Tuesday at Audi Field. Despite going into this match as favorites, Pugh & Co. weren't able to score a goal as they now head to France to play in the Paris Olympics.
This was the final friendly match before the real heat begins in Paris. After the game, Pugh took to social media and shared pictures from preparatory games ahead of the summer games. Swanson himself was present in Pugh's game against Costa Rica, the picture of which was also shared.
"And we’re off! 🇺🇸👋🏽✈️🇫🇷," Pugh wrote in the caption.
The match against Costa Rica was heavily dominated by the USWNT, which controlled 80% possession and outshot their opponents 26-2. However, Costa Rica goalkeeper Noelia Bermúdez saved all 12 shots coming her way, as Costa Rica's packed lanes didn't give US forwards any chance.
After the game, USWNT coach Emma Hayes was confident in her team ahead of the upcoming challenge.
"Yes, we need to be more clinical," Hayes said (via USA Today). "I don't need to state the obvious, but I think that when you've had maybe half a dozen training sessions in total since I've been the coach, I think it's pretty good returns so far."
The upcoming Summer Olympics will be important to Mallory Pugh, who missed last year's World Cup after an injury in a friendly game against Ireland just before the tournament.
Dansby Swanson wants to know his annoying trait from Mallory Pugh
Dansby Swanson and Mallory Pugh were having a conversation on his podcast and all of a sudden the Chicago Cubs shortstop asked the soccer player which of his traits annoys her the most. While Mallory was about to answer, Swanson tried to drag her brother into the conversation before she answered:
"Sometimes you are just, like, a little too much. Read the room, Read my energy," Mallory said.
Swanson, who was still confused, added:
"Yeah, I am trying to boost it."
Dansby Swanson and Mallory Pugh got married in December 2022 at the Ritz Carlton Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Georgia.
