Pitchers Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Evan Phillips took part in the first dual-language storytime session for elementary school kids as part of a flagship program by the Dodgers Foundation.

The Foundation has many such programs in and for various domains of society. One of those is the LADF's efforts towards imparting good knowledge to children, inculcating a good habit of reading from an early age, and financially aiding students in need of funds for college.

The Instagram page of the Dodgers Foundation posted a series of pictures showcasing Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Evan Phillips reading to kids from Amestoy Elementary in both English and Japanese. Take a look at the post here, which was captioned:

"The Dodgers and @dodgersfoundation hosted its first-ever dual-language Storytime in English and Japanese with Evan and Yoshinobu! The reading was held at Amestoy STEAM Academy in Gardena, the only Japanese dual-language elementary school in LAUSD."

The Dodgers Foundation has four main focus areas in its working structure: education, social justice, homelessness and health care. Their most credited works to this are Dodgers Dream Team, LA Reads, Science of Baseball, Dodgers Dreamfield, In This Togerther and College Career Accelerator.

The team charity of the ballclub began in 1995 and has changed countless lives in the city of Los Angeles. Over the years, many players and staff members have participated in initiatives related to the Foundation's work. Moreover, many players have tied down their own charity foundations with the Dodgers' to benefit a larger audience in the city.

Dodgers Foundation tied up with ex-MLB player Micah Johnson to supply backpacks for kids

The Dodgers Foundation linked up with foemer second baseman and now a self proclaimed artist/designer Micah Johnson to give away 450 Aku backpacks full of school supplies to kids coming from financially restrained families in Hawthorne, Caifornia.

Micah spent just three seasons in the big league, one each with the White Sox, Braves and the Dodgers. He pursued his interest in art and design after hanging up his cleats in 2017 and founding the Aku brand. Take a look at the IG post by Micah here:

"Alongside the @dodgerfoundation, we were able to deliver 450 Aku backpacks full of school supplies to kids in the city of Hawthorne. It's because of the Dodgers that I unlocked my passion for art and to be able to come back to the city and give out backpacks and products that I created is a surreal moment."

The LADF continues to impact the lives of various communities in the city and takes on the task of improving the stature of those who have been struggling for years.
