Boston Red Sox pitcher Walker Buehler featured his family in a Christmas photoshoot. They enjoyed the white landscape as the snow fell around them.
The photos also included a black-and-white pic beckoning a vintage look to the family occasion.
Here’s a look at the family photo session:
The 30-year-old Lexington, Kentucky, native married his high school sweetheart, McKenzie Marcinek. The family resides in Lexington, though McKenzie had to travel from Kentucky to Los Angeles while Buehler pitched for the Dodgers.
Before the birth of Finley, the couple adopted a French bulldog, Nala, in 2019. The family will now adjust to life after baseball in Los Angeles, as Buehler will be calling Boston home, at least for this upcoming season.
In the meantime, the Buehler family is taking advantage of quality time together with the holiday season in full swing.
Walker Buehler and Red Sox banking on a comeback season
The Red Sox took a chance on Walker Buehler by signing him to a one-year, $21 million deal this offseason. The deal is somewhat of a risk for the BoSox as Buehler is coming off his second Tommy John surgery.
Buehler missed most of the regular season, appearing down the stretch and in the playoffs. With the pitching-starved Dodgers, Buehler was a logical choice to be on the postseason roster.
However, the Dodgers surprised most analysts by declining a qualifying offer on Walker Buehler, allowing him to hit free agency for the first time in his career. According to The Athletic, Buehler was projected to get a two-year deal for around $32 million.
Instead, Buehler opted for a “show-me” deal in which he intends to prove he’s worthy of a long-term contract.
Despite his 5.38 ERA last season, Buehler shined in the postseason, notching the save in Game 5 of the World Series against the New York Yankees. Overall, he posted a 3.60 ERA in 15 postseason innings.
However, the Dodgers felt it was best to move on from Buehler. With the Red Sox looking to retool their rotation, Buehler seemed like the perfect low-risk, high-reward proposition.
The addition of Walker Buehler and Garrett Crochet gives the Red Sox a solid rotation. It remains to be seen if the Red Sox will continue loading up on arms this offseason.
If nothing else, the Red Sox have the makings of what could be a resurgent season in the American League East.
