The New York Yankees' latest pitcher Jhony Brito has already made a name for himself in the game against the Giants.
Let's take a look on the ethnic roots of this New York Yankees pitcher.
Jhony Rafael Brito is a professional baseball player from the Dominican Republic. On February 17, 1998, he was born in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. From a young age, he was interested in baseball.
On November 9, 2015, he signed as an international free agent with the New York Yankees. Since then, he has played with the Dominican Super League Yankees in 2016. He joined the low-A Staten Island Yankees in 2017.
Jhony Brito was initially selected for the Triple-A league for the 2023 season. However, after Luis Severino injured himself, Brito was included in the Major League team to start the year.
“It's a dream since I was a little kid to pitch in the big leagues. I’m very excited and thankful for this opportunity that the Yankees has given me,” said Brito.
He stuck out six batters over five scoreless innings which helped the Yankees beat the Giants 6-0. It is expected that this new acquisition for the New York Yankees will lead the team to more victories in upcoming games.
Jhony Brito's MLB performance
Jhony Brito has already proven his worth to his teammates and to the Yankees fans. Although he is a recent addition to the New York Yankees, he already has a win-loss record of 2-0, with an earned run average of 0.90. Furthermore, he has already scored 8 strikeouts.
Jhony Brito is still fairly new to the team and it is expected that this Yankees flamethrower will one day be considered one of the Yankees greats in baseball.
