Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees had a successful regular season in 2019. They went 103-59, securing the top spot in the always competitive American League East.
The Bronx Bombers matched up with the Minnesota Twins where they ran through them, winning the ALDS Series 3-0. However, they would run into some problems against the Houston Astros in the ALCS.
The Yanks ended up losing the series 4-2, ending their season. Despite making it to the ALCS, Judge could not help but feel the season was a failure, via CBS Sports' Mike Axisa.
"It's a failure. In spring training we talked about winning the division, putting ourselves in a good spot in the postseason and the World Series, and we came up short," said Judge.
Judge and the Yankees' ultimate goal was to win the World Series. They had huge expectations, and the club fell short of those expectations.
"So no matter how many games we won in the regular season or anything else we did, the season's a failure" said Judge.
Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees missed their chance this past season
After missing the postseason during the 2023 season, all eyes were on Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees this past season. They needed to put 2023 behind them and they did with a little help.
The addition of Juan Soto proved to be huge for this club. He took a lot of the pressure off guys like Judge and Giancarlo Stanton to perform at the plate.
Soto and Judge alone combined for 99 home runs and 253 runs batted in. This was a production baseball fans aren't used to seeing between two players on the same team.
The offense production and a solid bullpen made for a great team, but they ended up running into one just a bit better in the World Series. They looked like a shell of themselves against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the WS, which was unfortunate.
You cannot help but feel like this was the Bronx Bombers' year. They went all in during the offseason and made a handful of moves during the trade deadline. However, they just ran out of juice.
It will be interesting to see how this team fares without Soto in 2025. Can they remain a contending team or will they take a big step backward?
