The 2023 season was a disappointing one for Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels. As the team was in the mix in the division, Trout broke the hamate bone in his left hand in early July.

Trout had to have surgery to fix the issue, which caused him to miss almost two months. This really hurt the Halos as they started to falter without their leader out in the outfield.

They ended up missing the postseason, and that was hard on Trout. The combination of having to miss time because of an injury and losing took its toll on the three-time AL MVP, via Fox News' Ryan Morik.

"It's frustrating. [My hand is] better now, obviously. But I wanted to get back. It's tough. It's been hard on me," said an emotional Trout.

Trout is one of the most competitive players in the league. Being on the IL, especially during an important part of the season killed the veteran slugger.

"I love playing this game. I enjoy it, and it kills me not being out there. I just try to think of the broader picture. I got a lot left in my career. I can't just sit around here and mope around. Gotta have that positive mindset" said Trout.

Mike Trout came into the 2024 season healthy and ready to make a difference. This was his first season in a few years without Shohei Ohtani by his side, so he was needed more than ever.

Trout tore his meniscus in late April, which required him to have surgery. He was only 29 games into the season before he had to head to the IL.

He was working on returning from the IL, putting in the work during his rehab assignment when he tore his meniscus again. This immediately ended his season as he had to have another surgery on his knee.

His absence in the lineup was largely felt. The Angels finished the 2024 season with a 63-99 record, finishing in last place in the American League West.

However, there is hope coming into the new season. The Halos have made quite a few moves already, and Trout is expected to be ready for Opening Day. All eyes will be on the veteran slugger next season as the fanbase hopes he can stay on the field.
