The New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays met on Saturday for Game 3 of their four-game series. Toronto was able to get the better of New York in Game 1 but the Bronx Bombers evened up the series on Friday.
Unfortunately, the Yanks will not be able to win this series. They lost the game 9-3 as they could not stop Toronto's bats. They were outhit 14-8, giving them their 32nd loss of the season.
Nestor Cortes got the start for the Yanks and did not fare too well against the Blue Jays. He lasted just 4.1 innings, giving up three runs on seven hits while striking out five batters before handing the ball to reliever Jake Cousins.
After dominating the league, this team has started to lose its momentum. It has been a frustrating few weeks and the fanbase is ready to see the team play up to their potential again.
"Another loss. It's getting worse by the day" - one fan said.
"Not good. Not good at all" - said another.
"16 runs the last game and now this? Smh" - said another.
In their last five games, the Yanks have given up 44 runs. That is concerning given the team's rotation was shutting opposing teams down for much of the year.
"Losing to the Jays. Seriously? What are we doing rn?" - said another.
"Are you planning on winning another game this season? Asking for myself" - said another.
"I don't know why I keep caring when I know the end result" - said another.
Whether they win tomorrow or not, this has been a disappointing series. The Bronx Bombers should have had no problem taking this series as the Blue Jays have struggled mightily this year.
Yankees must get back to their winning ways
Since the Yankees have started to crumble, they have allowed the Baltimore Orioles to catch up. With the loss, the Yanks move down to second place in the American League East.
They must get back on track as they have an important series just beyond the horizon. Next weekend, they play a three-game series against their rivals, the Boston Red Sox.
The fanbase would come unglued if they came out and struggled against Boston at home. So, the team needs to figure out what is wrong, and they must do it quickly.
