Houston Astros veteran pitcher Justin Verlander's wife, Kate Upton, is a supermodel, entrepreneur and mother who has been a fashion icon for over a decade. While her husband is one of the best pitchers of his generation, Upton has once again grabbed headlines with her return to the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit's 2024 issue.

After featuring on the magazine's 60th anniversary cover in May, Upton shared one fitness practice she avoids in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle:

"Inside-out beauty is a big part of who I am. I don’t believe in calorie counting. I believe in having high-end ingredients, so you’re giving yourself premium fuel," she said.

Upton was born in Michigan in 1992 but moved to Florida with her family at a young age, where she spent most of her childhood.

She started her modelling career in 2010 and reached a new level of fame after her debut for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit magazine a year later. Since then, she has grown into one of the most familiar faces in the modeling industry, appearing on the pages of magazines such as Esquire, Vogue, GQ and more.

After dating for five years, Upton married Verlander in 2017, and the couple welcomed their daughter, Genevieve, in November 2018. The 32-year-old is also an entreprenuer and is the co-owner of Vosa Spirits, a canned cocktail brand in the US.

Astros veteran Justin Verlander surrenders four-run inning in disappointing outing vs Phillies

In his 12th start of the season, Verlander was hit for four runs in a single inning by the Philadelphia Phillies. The three-time Cy Young winner made a decent start to the game but was taken to the stands by the Philadelphia offence during the third inning.

Trea Turner started the scoring with an RBI single before Nick Castellanos blasted a three-run homer to take a 4-0 lead. After the game, Verlander opened up to the media about the three-run hit.

“The selection bothers me. I kind of went away from my instincts there," he said.

Verlander ended the night with five innings pitched, allowing seven hits and four runs while recording only three strikeouts.
