The Atlanta Braves' injury-plagued season continues as the club will now be without breakout star Reynaldo Lopez for the foreseeable future. The first-time All-Star has been placed on the 15-day IL with right forearm inflammation.
This open-ended injury leaves question marks around Lopez's timeline to return to the Braves, something that could derail the team's hope of bringing a title back to Atlanta.
There was initial hope that Reynaldo Lopez would have been able to avoid an IL stint following encouraging results from his MRI. However, the discomfort in Lopez's forearm continued longer than the team had hoped, forcing the club to place him on the IL in order to recall Bryce Elder from Triple-A Gwinnett.
The unfortunate injury to Lopez is just the latest in a growing list of ailing Atlanta Braves stars. The club is already without some of its top talents, including Ronald Acuna Jr. and Ozzie Albies, which makes the loss of Lopez even harder to swallow for Braves fans.

Reynaldo Lopez has been a breakout stud for the Braves this year
The 30-year-old has delivered the best year of his career, posting a 7-4 record with a 2.06 ERA and 102 strikeouts, earning himself a shiny All-Star selection in the process. Lopez has been solid, albeit inconsistent throughout his career so far, but has seemingly discovered the fountain of youth, becoming a completely different player in his debut season with the Atlanta Braves.
The Dominican gunslinger spent the first seven years of his career with the Chicago White Sox before becoming something of a journeyman lately. Lopez bounced around a few teams over the past few years, including the Los Angeles Angels and Cleveland Guardians before hitting free agency.
Nonetheless, the All-Star pitcher has been looking like a gift for Atlanta given his titan-esque contributions lately.
